King Koko

Honeybee satin ballgown, soft square neckline and low scoop back, baby basque waist and pleated voluminous satin skirt with chapel train. Shown with matching veil featuring tufted satin florals and ivory tulle.

" I had been living in the blush-and-blue world for so long that introducing this honey tone felt like opening a new door. It’s warm, decadent, almost edible in the way good couture color can be. I kept thinking about the gilded palettes of Gustav Klimt paintings—those rich golden hues that feel luminous and slightly indulgent. A crossbreed of mikado and satin felt like the perfect fabric blend because it holds sculptural shape so beautifully, allowing the exaggerated hip and deep basque waist to really command the room. The neckline dips just enough to feel daring, like the drop of champagne hitting your glass. And, of course, there are pockets—because art can also be function. The name comes from our editorial photographer Koko King, who has this fearless artistic spirit and likely dreams in shades of sepia…or tupelo honey. The gown felt like it deserved a name that had some reign to it. A ballgown that walks into the room like it owns the crown.”
